Anxiety Attacks Causes
There can be many varied anxiety attacks causes. Some reasons might be work-related: an important
presentation, a valued account, a terrible boss, a fear of losing one’s job. Other reasons might be more personal:
a troublesome child, an ailing parent, a mortgage, a sky-rocketing credit card bill.
Sometimes, fear can even come from the unknown. Not knowing what direction to take after college,
for example, can be a cause for anxiety. Some causes of anxiety can even be psychological – they can hark back from
childhood traumas or bad experiences.
In truth, almost anything can be a cause of anxiety, but they all basically fall into two
categories: the things we value and the things we are uncertain of.

However, like all sicknesses, severe anxiety that results in anxiety attacks can be prevented or
“cured.” The reverse can also happen. You can “take care” of your anxiety and thus further complicate your
situation. One way of doing this is by “drowning” yourself in the stressful situation.
For example: imagine that you are about to make an important presentation at work. Instead of
researching and doing your job well by preparing the necessary things for your presentation, you sit around
fidgeting. You entertain thoughts of you failing; you conjure up images of your head of the worst possible outcome.
When you go home, instead of relaxing, you imagine yourself making a fool out of yourself in front of your boss.
You indulge in self-pity. Indulging yourself with this kind of negativity activity is one great cause of anxiety/
panic attacks. The important thing is to keep your thoughts happy and positive.
Another one of anxiety attacks causes is sleeplessness. Human beings need sleep in order to
function properly. Staying up all night will do nothing for your nerves or for whatever it is you are worrying
about – it will only make it worse. Your body needs rest to recuperate and cope with stress. And it is a fact that
losing sleep can affect you emotionally, psychologically and even physically. Lack of sleep increases your blood
pressure and even cause you to hallucinate. On this note, it would also be good to stay away from caffeine. A known
upper, coffee and other caffeinated drinks will only keep you up and increase your nervousness – something you
don’t need now.
Another cause of anxiety attacks is lack of oxygen. When a person is having a panic attack, he or
she tends to hold her breath, thus launching his/her body into a state of agitation or shock: the lungs constrict,
the hands grow cold, etc. When you feel like you are about to have a panic attack, step outside for a little while.
Take a breather and walk in the fresh air. Drink water. But, for safety purposes, be sure to do all these with a
friend.
If your panic attacks become frequent, it would be best to consult your doctor. The important thing
is to not keep it a secret. Tell someone you trust about it. And if you need to, get professional help. One of the
worst anxiety attacks causes is ignoring the stress. You are not alone. Every human being has fears to battle with
in life.
